Relics & Early Work
“Relics” is a collection of highlights from 2002-2018. My collage work began in earnest after graduating with my BFA in 1999. After a move out of state from California to Washington, I began making college works as a way to correspond with my friends in a visual language with symbolism specific to our shared memories and experiences. I also found it to be the perfect way to express musical ideas visually. I constantly made artwork for the music projects I was playing in such as show fliers, and DIY CD covers we sold at performances.
When I moved back to California in 2002 I continued to make collage and refine it into a methodology of creative self reflection and genuinely authentic expression. The works in this collection are a chronology of the works that represent significant chapters of my life, and the interpersonal relationships that were fundamental in shaping who I am.
